I often find Kohl's coupon codes for 30%, and additonal free shipping - I then go to Kohls.com and scan the clearance and sales items - I get items for 70-80% off retail, AND get them delivered to my house for free!

WALMART is a great place to shop online for non-grocery items!! Not only is it more convienent to shop here online, you can browse a bigger selection, and get FREE site-to-store shipping! So you don't have to search for what you want, and then wait at the checkout - you can walk in and pick it up!

Example: I decided to shop for a new satellite provider. I found Dish was a LOT cheaper than DirecTV (our current provider), so I switched! These are all words that have become music to my ears since I started trying to "improve" my spending!
If you are like me, you see things better as numbers, especially when you can translate those dollars into things:

Yes, that sample of toothpaste will only last a few brushes! If you value that at $0.50- and you get a sample a day worth that - you have an extra $182 at the end of the year!
That's at least a few nice meals out!

Sure that coupon is only worth $1 - but if you save $10 a week in coupons, that's $520 a year! That could help fund your family vacation!

And my favorite...FREE. For example, let's say that you get all the free things in my post below, and we will value it at $15 (between freebies and samples). If you could keep that up each week, that's $780 a year!

So let's say you implement all these things...samples, coupons, and FREE...that's $1,482 a year - almost $1,500 that you could have in the bank - or to HIT your debt with!

What beats Blockbuster's $5 per movie? Redbox's $1 a movie! What beats that? FREE Redbox codes to get free movies! If you haven't heard of Redbox - its a movie vending machine. They have them all over the place now - at wonderful WalMart, McDonald's, and Walgreen's.
Redbox has a few codes that you can enter in the 'promo code' section that will take off the $1 charge for the movie that night.
These codes are only good for that one night. If you keep the movie longer, you will be charged $1 per night. And you can only use each code once per credit/debit card. But you can use all three codes one each credit/debit card, if you have three cards, that's 12 free movies! Not bad!

"Duh"...That was my first thought when I actually got this concept. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEND. Not just think about WHAT you are buying, but the difference between WANTING and NEEDING something. It is a simple, common-sense concept, but hard to do when you are trained to 'pull out the plastic'.

Sure that shirt is ADORABLE... don't you have one like it in your closet? Yes, it's on sale for $20! But...do you want to go $20 more into debt (or $20 less OUT of debt) for it? Yes, of course you NEED the latest electronic gadget...or do you?

STEP 1 to Stretching YOUR Dollar (yes, that's right, YOU worked for it!) is Thinking Before You Spend...
